EE phones take flight

UK mobile operator EE is extending its own-brand smartphone range, following up on 2014’s launch of the Kestrel and Eagle devices. In line with last year’s avian branding, EE has now rolled EE Harrier smartphoneout the Harrier (5.2 inch screen and 1.5Ghz processor) which comes in at under £200 – by a single penny – and also the Harrier Mini (4.7 inch and 1.2Ghz) which carries a much more reasonable £99 price tag.

Anything out of the ordinary about this pair of Eagles apart from the pricing? Well, there’s EE’s recently launched WiFi Calling feature enabling users to route voice calls and texts via WiFi if they find themselves without cellular coverage.

“Customer take-up of our existing EE branded products has been phenomenal, so we’ve worked hard to create new feature packed devices,” says Pippa Dunn, CMO at EE. “The Harrier and Harrier Mini are another big step forward and will allow even more people to benefit from a premium smartphone without the premium price.”
