UK mobile operator EE has launched an own-brand smartphone in the shape of the EE Kestrel (made by China’s Huawei). The 4G device costs a standalone £99.99, or is free with a £13.99 a month package. It might sound cheap, but users will still worry about burning through data on a fast network and breaking through their allowances. First-bill shock could be a rife. However, the EE Kestrel could be the right piece of kit for those who think a 4G should be reasonably priced and just good enough for what they want.
